Fillery

Fillery is a concept for a mobile app about discovering background images that match across devices, with advanced filter options and a community of artists posting unique art and photography.

The high fidelity prototype for Fillery.

Overview

Fillery was created around a problem that most wallpaper apps ignore. Finding background images that actually look right across a phone, tablet, and desktop. On Fillery, artists publish free-to-use images tagged by aesthetic, color, and aspect ratio. Someone can search for a single image, or filter to find a set of matching images in the same color and style to use across all their devices.

Role

Fillery was a team project with the goal of creating a functional prototype with a focus on user-centered design. I solo conceptualized the low-fidelity prototype on paper, working out what each page would be, what purpose it served, and how someone would navigate between them through each button. I also created the visual identity for the high-fidelity prototype, including the color scheme, typography, button design, and the app logo.

Three different potential visual styles for Fillery, depicting something conservative, moderate, and wild.
Three design concepts that go for different themes. Each one falls on a spectrum of looking simple and user-friendly to striking and unique.

The visual identity I built for Fillery, bringing together the icon set I designed, the typography I selected, and the button design into one system.

Outcome

The final result is a complete high-fidelity prototype where users can move through the app and see how searching, filtering, and downloading would work.
